Birth of our newest members – Goats!

We never thought that I would enjoy working with goats. However, these last few days have been quite an experience. Here at ABM our goat herd has blessed us with little baby goats (called kids). Last Sunday our first ked was born; a girl (doe) that we named Eve. We were so happy to see our first baby goat! Through the week we received more blessings by the names of Kiera, Adam, Cain and Abel (who sadly didn’t survive), Jeremiah and Jezzi, Annie, Ruth, Isaac and Isaiah. Annie lost her mother during birth of a twin and Ruth was abandoned. A couple of mother goats weren’t making enough milk to feed the babies, so their kids are being bottle-fed. We have 5 kids at the building being bottle-fed every four hours. The rest of the babies reside in our newly-made nursery with their mamas. It is fun to watch the kids get used to their legs. They not only walk shortly after birth, but within a couple days they hop around as if they have springs on their feet.
We look forward to having more baby goats and getting the chance to take care of them and bottle-feed them.
