Ozark Heritage Festival

The town of Piedmont’s Ozark Heritage Festival started off with a parade. It consisted of horse and buggy, old-fashioned tractors, boy scouts, local high school marching bands, fire trucks, and police cars. We stood on the side of the main street watching the parade pass. We especially enjoyed diving for the candy and eating a lot of it!

After the parade we attended the festival, where we shopped around and looked at each stand. The different kinds of items being sold were European charm beads, hand crafts, taxidermy, purses, signs, and wooden furniture, and invitations to church revivals were also being handed out. There were singers and little cheerleaders performing on a stage. We tried the different foods such as butterfly taters, funnel cakes, kettle corn and our favorite, country-style hot dogs. Some of the rides there were a Ferris wheel, spinning tea cups, and a house of mirrors. Carnival games were also being played by many. On our way out, we saw a lady who was spinning wool into yarn on a old-fashioned spinning-wheel. Overall, this small-town experience was great!
