We recently watched "Unfiltered: The Rebel Jesus" for our Wednesday night Bible Study.  In it, we learned that in Christ's day he was a rebel; his teachings didn't always match up with the people of his day.  When picking his twelve disciples, for example, many people would have picked the richest, strongest, and smartest. However, Jesus chose an odd group; several poor fishermen and a hated tax collector among them.  What we come to realize is that he didn't choose his disciples for their earthly stature, but rather for their unwavering faith. Righteousness in God's eyes has nothing to do with physical qualities; it has to do with our willingness to serve Him.

Recently, for our Wednesday night bible study, we watched a video entitled "Never Runners". In it was a comedic skit of an organization that fights against running.

Gideon's Bible

The “Gideon’s” recently came to visit the students at ABM Ministries.  We learned that the organization began with two traveling Christian businessmen, Samuel E. Hill and John H. Nicholson, in 1898, who had forgotten their Bibles at home. During their devotion that evening, a vision came to them.

After several of Louie Giglio’s challenging messages, we are shifting gears into something totally new called “The Gospel Journey.” It’s a six part series which entails an agnostic, an atheist, a minister’s daughter, a city girl, a Wiccan, an Episcopalian, and a Presbyterian going on a weeklong trip through the mountains of Colorado and the message of the Gospel.

One of the Sunday lessons that stuck with me was when Mr. Reed called me up in front of the whole church. When I got on stage, I was asked a question. “How do others see you?” In other words, how do other people view you as a person? On one side of the board it read ‘good things about me’ and on the other ‘things I need to change.’

The last couple of weeks, for Wednesday night Bible study, we have been doing the Case for a Creator series by Lee Strobel. In it, he shows us, from a journalist point of view, the evidence that led him to believe in a Creator. He does not name who that Creator is or even if there is one. He just lays out all the evidence and lets you decide. As a kid who grew up in a Christian home, I just believed because everyone else did. This study made it obvious that there really has to be something out there. It's not just a fairytale, the evidence backs it up.
