The Barn Raising

Tuesday, May 18th, 2010

During the month of May we have been building a horse shelter for the horses to get in out of the weather and also so it will be easier to feed all the animals.  We started by building the three supporting walls. Then we dug the holes for the posts on the four corners and setting them with cement. Next, we brought a different, already made shelter and used half of it for the roof and then covered it with tin. After that, we nailed plywood to the sides of the walls to cover them, along with planks on the inside of the shelter. When most of that was done, we started on the outside shelters for the remaining horses. We dug even more post holes and made a roof to cover those as well. It is a very fun project and there is a lot to do to be kept busy.
